Most women go through menopause in the middle of their working lives, in the years when their experience counts the most. The symptoms are real, they last for years, and very few mention them at work.
On 7 September 2026 ISO published ISO 45010, the world's first international standard on menstruation and menopause in the workplace. It gives you a shared language and a concrete method. Ryma gives your employees what a policy cannot: support that is her own.
ISO 45010 is titled Occupational health and safety management. Menstruation and menopause in the workplace. Guidance. ISO published it on 7 September 2026. It belongs to the ISO 45000 family alongside ISO 45001 and builds on the British standard BS 30416 from 2023. The standard is guidance, not a requirement. ISO has made it free to read so that organisations of every size and sector can use it.
In 2026 Dansk Standard published a Danish guide to menopause in the workplace together with KiSO at the University of Copenhagen, Foreningen Kvinder & Sundhed and Hormoner på Arbejde. The guide draws on ISO 45010 and on the KiSO research, the same study of 153,800 Danish women that Ryma is built on.
A workplace where menopause can be mentioned without it costing anything. The standard starts here, because nothing else works without it.
A written policy that tells employees what they can expect and who they can turn to. The standard includes a template for a workplace charter.
Managers who know the symptoms and know how to have the conversation. Without that, support depends on which manager she happens to have.
Temperature, ventilation, access to water and toilets, and somewhere to step away. Practical conditions that are often cheap to change.
Flexible hours, working from home and adjusting tasks for a period. Solutions agreed with the individual, not decided for her.
Is what you do working? The standard asks you to follow the effect, not just adopt a policy and file it away.
The standard expands the guidance on disclosure and privacy: when and how an employee shares information, and how it is protected. Our position is simple. Nobody should have to describe her symptoms to get support.
When women feel better in those years, their workplaces feel it too. The order matters: her first, the number second.
ISO 45010 is about what the workplace does. Ryma is about what the woman gets. The two belong together.
Ryma is an app for the woman. She follows her symptoms, sees her patterns and gets a report she can bring to her doctor. Nobody at work sees her data. She does not have to tell anyone anything to get help.
The standard asks managers to understand the symptoms. Ryma gives the woman the language for them. If she chooses to talk to her manager, she has something concrete to bring.
A policy does not change her Tuesday. An offer she actually uses does. Ryma can be the concrete offer in your work with ISO 45010, alongside your own policy, manager training and adjustments.
